Crib Basics - A cheat sheet guide to your first crib.

heading_title

Picking out your very first crib can be a daunting process, especially with the plethora of options available that all seem to promise great ergonomics and sound quality. Luckily, matching a family with their ideal crib is what we do best here at Acorn. Let’s begin with addressing some basic questions that you might have as an expecting parent, when looking for a crib.

What is a crib?

Think of a crib as a mini, elevated bed with secure, slated railings for your infant.

How long till my baby outgrows it?

On an average, a standard crib can be comfortably used by your baby till the age of 2, even three. After that, your child will make the transition from a crib to a toddler bed.

Well, what do I do with the crib then?

Great question, this is where your type of crib comes in. A standard crib can be a wonderfully sturdy hand-me-down for junior #2, or you could opt for one with an extension range that adapts with your growing child. Our Mosky 3 in 1 extension crib offers maximum utilisation by converting into a toddler bed and later a sofa for your kid’s room, making your baby crib last a decade at minimum.

What is the average size of a crib?

On average, you can expect your crib to be around 27” by 45”, with a height of approximately 36”. Depending upon preference and space availability, some parents do choose to customise their crib with their specific dimensions, which would then require a customized mattress as well. At acorn we are happy to accommodate your preferences and offer a range of customisations to ensure you get exactly what you need.

What kind of crib should I pick?

There are a lot of variations today in the kinds of crib that are available, from standard, extension cribs, oval cribs to ones with attached storage. The most important aspect to consider while making your decision is safety and sturdiness. Ensure that the crib you purchase uses quality, non-toxic, and child friendly material.
